On the day of your trip, head to the Anchorage Depot train station, the departure point for the train to Fairbanks. The Aurora Winter Train travels approximately mi (560 km) through Alaska's snow-covered heart, where you can see the state's most fascinating attractions—most notably Mount Denali, the highest peak in North America.
Once on board, all you have to do is relax in your comfortable seat and enjoy the journey, which takes about 11.5 hours. As the train moves at a moderate pace, you'll have plenty of opportunities to admire the scenery and take pictures.
The Aurora Winter Train’s carriages feature heated seats and large panoramic windows, perfect for taking in every detail of Alaska’s snowy landscapes. There's also an onboard dining car and a café where you can purchase food and drinks.
To make this Alaskan rail journey even more special, the onboard staff will share information about the historic railway and the local wildlife. If you're lucky, you might spot moose walking near the tracks, wolves, or even bald eagles soaring over frozen rivers and waterfalls. It promises to be an unforgettable experience!

Q - How much luggage can we bring?
A - Carry-on luggage: one piece of carry-on luggage per person is permitted. Dimensions must not exceed 14.9 in x 13.7 in x 5.9 in (38 x 35 x 15 cm). Checked luggage: each passenger may check two pieces of luggage when traveling on the Aurora Winter Train. The weight limit is 48 lbs (22 kg) per bag. Luggage services vary by station. The fee for bicycles, as well as for additional, oversized, or overweight luggage, is 20USD per item. Due to space limitations, standard-sized (non-inflatable) kayaks and canoes are not permitted. Deflated inflatable watercraft may be checked for a fee of 20USD per item. If you have luggage to check, you must do so at the outdoor tent before entering the terminal. Luggage storage services are not available at any train station.
